Job Title: Service & Sales Manager

Location: Darsham, Suffolk
Reports to: Simon Overton (Director)

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Service & Sales Manager to oversee the repair and maintenance of irrigation systems, while also supporting sales growth and business development. This is a dynamic role, focusing on both customer service and identifying new market opportunities to expand the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Irrigation System Service & Maintenance Management:

  • Oversee and coordinate all repair and maintenance requests for irrigation systems, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Schedule and manage service requests, working closely with the team to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date call sheet and track service requests to ensure timely task completion.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with customers, providing updates and addressing their needs promptly.
  • Lead and develop a skilled team, supporting their growth and knowledge.
  • Ensure necessary resources (parts, vehicles, equipment) are available for scheduled jobs.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and provide solutions and recommendations to customers.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate invoicing for completed jobs.

2. Sales & Business Development Support: 

  • Assist the Director of Agriculture in identifying new market opportunities and cultivating key business relationships.
  • Create quotes for potential clients and follow up to secure new business.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Seek opportunities to expand the company’s customer base within the agricultural sector.
  • Represent the company at industry events and exhibitions to strengthen brand presence and build business connections.

3. Other Duties:

  • Additional tasks as needed, with potential for role expansion as the position grows within the organisation.

Department Split:

It is anticipated that the split between these two roles will be:

  • April to October: 70% Service, 30% Sales
  • November to March: 70% Sales, 30% Service

Required skills and qualifications: 

  • Full driver’s license
  • Proven experience in service management, especially in coordinating maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong sales and business development experience with a focus on building and maintaining lasting client relationships
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel 

Desirable skills and qualifications: 

Training may be available if you don’t have the following qualifications yet:

  • Forklift/ telehandler qualification
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • SSSTS qualification
  • Experience with job management software
  • Welding skills

Job Title: Irrigation Engineer (Full-Time, Permanent) 

Location: East Anglia (with occasional travel further afield) 
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Outdoor, physically demanding work, including manual handling of irrigation materials 
  • Service, repair, and maintenance of pumps, pipework, and valves related to irrigation systems 
  • Welding and working with cutting equipment (depending on experience) 
  • Providing excellent customer service and clear communication with colleagues and customers 
  • Additional duties as required to ensure smooth operations 

Essential Skills & Experience: 

  • Driver’s license is required 
  • Ability to thrive in a physically demanding role

  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently 

Desirable Skills & Experience: 

  • Experience with MIG/MMA welding and using cutting equipment 
  • Background in irrigation, pump maintenance, or plumbing 
  • Experience working with drawings 
  • Familiarity with tractor, digger, and roller operation is a plus 

Working Hours: 

  • Monday to Friday, with occasional overnight stays 
  • Occasional weekend work (only for emergencies) 

About the Role: 

This is a field-based role, covering East Anglia with the potential for occasional travel further afield. Based at Trustans Farm, Westleton Road, Darsham, Saxmundham, Suffolk, you will work independently and as part of a small team to maintain irrigation systems and deliver high-quality service. 

We’re looking for someone with a hands-on approach and some experience with pumping equipment or irrigation systems, although on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate.
