Prime Irrigation has a team of over 20 staff. We have bases in Darsham, Suffolk and Spalding, Lincolnshire and our teams are ideally placed to service East Anglia, the East Midlands and the Greater London area. Our engineers are supported by an experienced senior management team, who can help our customers with all aspects of irrigation, both agricultural and sports turf.
Herbert Prime started his business in Suffolk working as a blacksmith in 1919, and the family business has evolved throughout the last century as technology has developed. Prime Irrigation’s first project was undertaken in 1958 under the leadership of Frederick Prime, Herbert’s son. Over the last sixty plus years Frederick and subsequently his sons Glyn, Kit and Robin have grown the business. See Frederick and the team talk about their work back in 1962 here. In 2018, Prime Irrigation united with Trenching Services, an international irrigation installation company focused on sports pitch irrigation, expanding the company and its capabilities.

Simon Overton
Director (Agriculture)
Simon joined Prime Irrigation in 2022 and has worked in the irrigation and pump industry for over 30 years, with roles including area and national sales manager positions across the UK. Focusing on agricultural irrigation, Simon has a broad knowledge of pumps and aims to provide the best solution for long term efficiency over the lifetime of equipment operation. Simon is the first port of call for any agricultural project queries and is more than happy to discuss your needs and expectations for your irrigation system.
Allan Williams
Director (Turf)
Allan has worked in the irrigation sector since 2002 and focusses on the design and installation of sports turf and golf course irrigation systems. Operating in conjunction with consultants or liaising directly with the customer, Allan works to update existing or install new irrigation systems to suit their budget and requirements.
Graham Kingsland
Service Manager
Graham began working at Prime Irrigation as an Irrigation Engineer in 1996, and he has built up a wealth of knowledge of both agricultural and turf irrigation systems over the decades. Graham is the first point of call for any maintenance and repair work, coordinating our Irrigation Engineers from our office in Darsham. He is also responsible for Health & Safety across the company.
Robin Prime
Director (Agriculture)
Robin joined Prime Irrigation in 1975 and has worked with farmers and landowners throughout East Anglia for over 40 years. Robin focusses on designing agricultural systems to maximise irrigation efficiencies, using his knowledge of the agricultural sector to design specialised systems, including floating pumps, pumping stations and underground mains.
Gary Scrupps BSc CEng MICE
Director
Gary is a civil engineer with over 40 years’ experience in sports pitch and golf course irrigation, having designed and installed irrigation systems for golf courses throughout the UK and Europe, including Portugal, Germany, Denmark, France, the Czech Republic and Austria, Gary has a deep understanding of irrigation solutions for golf courses.
Mark Prime
Stores Manager
Mark joined the Prime Irrigation team in 2020. With over twenty years of experience in stock management he is the go-to for all parts & replacements. He works closely with our suppliers to ensure that our stores are well-stocked, and he is also to help source any irrigation parts we don’t hold in stock. Whether it’s a large-scale irrigation project or minor repairs, Mark can arrange all aspects of parts & equipment anticipated.
